Craziest Summer Ever! Part II (Cliffhanger)

On June 2nd, my brother had his first art show (since leaving his job to sell his art). He sold a few pieces that night, and has gone to other events since then to sell his art. If you are wondering, I’m still working on my pictures to start selling them at a later date and time.

If you would like to see or buy my brothers art on his website/IG, visit: www.thaynes.world (No dot com, and if you have security saying it’s not safe site– It is, the domain just forwards to his Instagram account)

Bonus: While I was walking around the building looking around and getting pictures, I saw in one of the offices of this real estate building the show was at. It is an actual copy of a 1968 Colonel Sanders LP record framed and hung up… Yes, thee Chicken Pimp himself Colonel Sanders.

The next day, I took the kids downtown to have fun at the PRIDE events happening at Washington Square Park (where I ran into a former schoolmate with her kids). Unfortunately, because of bad weather, everyone there was forced to leave 90 minutes after opening/getting there. FUH! I am out $90… that’s like a dollar a minute!

To kill time later in the day, I took the kids to a Goodwill store to look around. I randomly found a weight scale and discovered that for the first time since before I married the kids mom … 17 years ago, I’m below 200 pounds. Yes!

We found a new pride flag and brought it back home to hang up on the flag pole… which suddenly disappeared a few days later, base and all! I doubt anyone stole it because this new flag weighed a little more than the other flag. Plus, when I replaced the flag holder, I tried my best to reuse the previous holes, but the spacers probably crapped out. So probably, off to OZ it went… (I’m chuckling to myself because of the similarities…)

I was scheduled to work the next day, but luckily my coworker traded shifts so I could take the kids back to the Pride Festivities since those (like us) that were kicked out because of weather the day prior, the digital tickets were reissued and we were allowed back in on Sunday. Hurray!!! I didn’t see the text until later, but had I seen it earlier, we could have probably gone to watch the parade. Maybe next year.

How many more humans today.

Once the kids had enough of the crowds, we went back over to Encircle. For the longest time, I have wanted to recreate The Beatles “Abbey Road” album cover involving the kids. Since the walkway to the front door is painted in colors, we recreated the famous stance in a safer capture area using a tripod.

A few days later, one of the twins went home, and then the other. So I was alone again, and I ventured out one day off to capture photos of the Utah State Capitol building during the sunset that night.

Side notes: We had a situation that required one of the twins to be sent back up to Salt Lake, and after a week we had the other twin come back up. It was perfect so I could spend more time with the kids, so their mom could recover from needed surgery without having to take care of the kids.

We celebrated Fathers Day by cooking up burgers. The twins were both up here on my birthday a few days later, where we BBQ’d chicken since we had hamburgers two days prior. I couldn’t have been happier that day because I was with family and my kids.

The kids have been busy during the day by working on cosplay weapons and helmet prop. We’ve also taken visits to our local library, malls, grandma took them to the zoo, watching South Park, being invited to a family friends graduation party, and not to mention spending time with the family.

The following week, we ventured downtown to let the kids hang out with a friend that also lives where they live. We also ventured over to City Creek Mall to grab a snack, and browse.

Their friend had to take off shortly after, so we three headed over to walk around the Cathedral of the Madeleine a few blocks over. One of the kids borrowed my phone to take pictures because their phone was faulty, but I was able to borrow back to take one picture for fun…

We had my friend cut all our hair one day off. Later that same day, we ventured with Brodie over to Woody’s Drive-In for shakes, then we drove over to the dog portion of Tanner Park where we did a good walk. I let the kids frolic in the water (no swimming). Brodie had to join in the fun too.

I knew there was a reason as to why I had not posted this post earlier, I forgot to add this and tell everyone the good news. After signing, mailing and submitting the paperwork to the LDS church, the twins received the letters stating that they are officially no longer members of the “church”. Yay!

I had to celebrate the 4th by working that night, but I was able to walk in and out to watch the drone show up at the ski resort (to prevent wildfires), and actual fireworks at the city park.

I did get to spend the next day with the kids, and I let them bring their mall friend over to the house to hang out with them and work on art projects. After dropping their friend off at their place, I brought the kids back to the house to FaceTime with their mom, so she could tell them the good/bad news…
