The Air Up Here

Once in a while, you get to experience an event twice… and no, I’m not talking about me getting married… 🙄

I remember that when I was in the 7th grade (1993), the NBA All-Star Game was held at the Delta Center in Salt Lake for the first time. Exactly 30 years later, the Utah Jazz were able to host the All-Star game again.

Now as an adult, I was able to travel and visit the Downtown Salt Lake area prior to the game on Sunday (2/19/23) to get photographs and some videos of the outside of the Vivant Arena and surrounding areas.

I brought the family dog with me the first time, so I was unable to get pictures inside the arena.

At the east corner of the building, they had a walk through structure with music and video. Every once in a while, the bass from the speakers hit so hard that it would shake the air waves around it. In the video, the bass hits so hard that it can’t record that bass sound.

We walked around to the south side of the building, and looped around on to the street side.

While walking back to my car, I took a picture of the Union Pacific building, but I noticed the sign acting funny with my camera. You will notice it in the video.

Then, the following night after getting off of work, I stopped by again around 1AM to see if I could get any more photographs while it was dark.

On the way back to my car, I noticed the giant video display being projected onto the Radison Hotel. On Friday (2/17), it was Michael Jordan’s birthday. Ready to feel old? He turned 60.

On my way home, I passed what appeared to be a giant shoe that looks like it was made out of snow (it’s not, because driving home after the first day of pictures, I saw crew putting it together).

The building behind the shoe looks like a shoe box, and you could walk through it (during the daytime).
