Craziest Summer Ever! Part III

(In Shatner-mode) “Captain’s log, stardate 23.186… I have been granted the honor of assuming the… responsibility for the upbringing of our beloved children. The, trepidation of worry that once weighed upon me is steadily dissipating with each passing day. At this juncture, I find myself excelling beyond measure…

Sorry, I’ve been watching the original Star Trek series, and I had to do that. (And I will admit, I had written the paragraph, then used an AI feature to spice it up…)

So yes, you read right. And if you haven’t already been told what is happening— Long story short, the kids mom is allowing me to take care of our kids by letting them live in SLC and go to school up here. So once again, my moms house will be full again (Ha! Full House) until we find an affordable place of our own later…. (Thinking of todays rent prices…) HA!

After she told the kids the news, I made sure that the kids are ok with this since this is a big change for them going from a small town and small sized school, to a very large city and regular high school. It’s still sinking in, but they are doing awesome with me because I communicate with them all time.

I told the kids the day before, that we could hop up on the roof and the watch fireworks out among the city. Only Clover and I made it up to the roof.

I had that Saturday off of work, so after yard work, I took them first to Bahama Bucks, on the way out to the Great Salt Lake and Great Saltair.

We made it too late to get pictures of the sun going down beyond the horizon, but I did get some even better photos when everyone else was leaving. The kids did not like the bugs attacking them.

The kids have been enjoying spending time with the family, their time at Encircle, and we celebrated Free Slurpee Day for the first time since 2019 by barely making it to a location down the street before it ended.

Well, the kids headed back to their moms home where they needed to pack up their belongings, so I could come down later and pick them up. Also while down there, they celebrated their 16th birthday with friends on separate days. Drivers Ed. is not happening right now.

While they were back in St. George getting packed to move, I spent time with my little guy.

Time-lapse of the clouds rolling by one night …

The day I was to drive down to pick up the kids and their belongings, my mom put together a surprise party for her boyfriend in the evening. So I headed out after an hour at the party in my mothers car… truck… whatever it is (it had the space for their belongings), and I would be arriving late to spend the night.

After waking up, I went over to the kid’s house to rest, and then we started loading up the vehicle. Even with storm clouds giving us shade to pack, it was humid and I was feeling it.

Clover was staying behind for a friends birthday party a few days later, so Keith and I headed out and up to Salt Lake City.

Driving home, where the rainbow ends…

The next day we started/continued cleaning up our new rooms, and had Keith help with the yard. I always dreamed of what it would be like to finally have my own kids help with yard work…

Clover came up a couple days later, and they were now home. Now to get them enrolled in high school…

A quick update…

Now that the kids are living with me, this will be the 4th time I have changed the way I write on this blog.

First, the blog was about my adventures when I started this blog 18 years ago, then it became a way for family to see what the kids and I were up to when we lived in Southern Utah. The third time was when I first divorced and shared our adventures no matter where we lived. This time, I will try to post a monthly post for their mom since I won’t be traveling south much anymore, but the trips/adventures will continue to have their own posts.

As always, thanks for visiting and reading about our trials and tribulations through out our lives.
