Do You Wanna Carve a Pumpkin?

I know that I wrote and said that I would post a blog post about September, but when it rains, it pours…I guess. Luckily, we are all ok. Just been very busy taking care of the kids and anything else.

So what have I been doing that has made me so busy besides my kids… and getting pictures of the leaves?

Well, the company that I pay to have my websites, is raising their prices for the type of plan I originally paid for, otherwise I have to spend another $700+ to keep my little personal site up come November if I did not delete some files to shrink the size of my site.

So, I have had to spend all my free time in October doing the following:

  • Dropped its size down to <17.5GB (below the 20GB max)… so I’m safe now;
  • Uploaded a few videos files to a new YouTube Channel (the embedded video is on their respective post);
  • Any video that I can’t upload to YouTube, I made the video file size smaller;
  • Saving each blog post as a PDF if the post is 2+ years old, and embed the PDF on that post… (this task will carry on into the following month);
  • Deleting 95%+ of my pictures that are no longer needed because they are saved on the PDF.

I’m sure the last one does not apply to anyone, but just in case you are linking to a picture or video hosted on my website to another website or wherever, there is a great chance anything linked will show a missing image symbol.

Let’s move on…

So during the month of September, FanX happens here in SLC. Even after getting tickets for the 3 of us to go on Friday and Saturday, the Sunday before is when I started to feel horrible. I struggled to go to work and take care of the kids… but it wasn’t until Tuesday afternoon when K took an at home Covid test, and his test was positive. I then took a test, it too was positive. So Keith and I had to stay home and not go, but Clover was ok and went with friends. I was going to take my nice camera with me to get pictures… Hopefully next year. (I’ll wear a mask prior, because I was also sick a previous year when I wanted to go to FanX)

Hopefully you have seen the photographs that I took of the foliage during September and October, if not, click here to view those and previous years photographs of leaves…

I did get a few photos around Liberty Park one night while walking Brodie.

Then a few days later, I went over right around sunset to take pictures of the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon with the foliage. Here are a few more photographs from different locations and angles.

Taken from G.K. Gilbert Geologic View Park, right near the “Wasatch Jump”…

The kids have been busy with school. They are not use to this much homework and size of school/students, but they are rocking it the best they can.

Towards the end of October, Brodie and I did our routine (Liberty Park) again one evening, and I took in a few more photos of the leaf season that is ending, while walking under cloudy skies (before it snowed the following day).

The next day…

… and this was melted by afternoon, and out came the sunshine. Welcome to Utah.

We spent time at the mall.

On Halloween Eve, we purchased pumpkins, and did carvings. My brother invited his friends over and they carved a few too.

On Halloween, we placed candles in the pumpkins to have a festive front porch when visitors stopped by. Apparently, the candles that were used were scented candles… So the front porch smelled very nice. lol

Now to save the best for last…

As some of you may know, my mom met and began dating someone better after our cruise last year (thank goodness!).

The whole family has gotten to know one another pretty well, and when I told my mom that the kids were moving up here (link), is when they told me that he proposed to her. I congratulated them, and come October, they had a little ceremony with a few family and friends to wed. So I now have a step dad. Since my mom asked me (and my bro) to walk her down the aisle, I wasn’t the one to get the pictures of that… but anything after sitting down, I captured.
