The Adventures in Autumn Land

Another year of autumn leaves was upon us, and this year I was able to get out many times to take many more photographs than previous years.

Although each season is 3 months, it goes by fast. Unfortunately in Utah, we have two extra seasons… Construction (year round) and Leaf Season (only 2-3 WEEKS). Because I have slacked in the past, this year, I really pushed myself to get outdoors (even with my kids in my care) to get as many pictures as I could .

I took my oldest with me the evening of September 22 to take photos in Emigration Canyon [wiki]. Most of the photos (seen below) were taken along the top of the canyon, even though we drove all the way into Park City, up Guardsman Pass, and down Big Cottonwood Canyon [map of drive]. We were just a week early from when the leaves finally changed colors near Guardsman, where it was still all green.

Two photos merged to create a panoramic.

While I was out getting a few photographs in Emigration, I spotted a deer. Keith was sitting in the car taking pictures of me with my phone walking to the spot I noticed the deer, when I actually reacted.

The following week, I had 3 days off in a row.

So, on the first evening (September 27), I took the youngest with me up Parleys Canyon to first stop at the mouth of Lambs Canyon to take a few pictures [map of drive]. I’ll have to come back here to drive further in since I only drove in a little bit.

We walked in a few feet before heading out.

We continued up Parleys to reach Summit, and get to another section nearby that I pass each time I go to work. I thought you could drive down this old road, but it’s gated off, and so we walked half a mile to take pictures. Unfortunately, the camera’s battery crapped out after a few minutes. So the rest were taken with my phone at Summit.

We stopped at Lambs again on the way home, and this time to drive a little further in… but not the entire road in until a later date.

Although this is not the end of my foliage photographs, I am still working on editing those batches of photographs to share here since I took most of the pictures these last two days, and I have a lot of weeding out/editing to do. So stay tuned for part two…

Sneak “peak” photo from the next batch of photos taken in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Note… I’ve set a goal to get enough photos cleaned up to then sell by a certain date, and I will have these included.
